Greetings to you all.
In 2024, on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the founding of Shanghai International Studies University (SISU), the university formally established the Institute of Language Sciences by integrating the resources and strengths of the former Institute of Linguistics (a research institution) and the former Institute of Corpus Studies and Applications (an academic platform). The Institute aims to focus on interdisciplinary research at the intersection of linguistics, management, computer science, and cognitive neuroscience, while coordinating and advancing research in language intelligence. In response to the enthusiastic expectations of alumni at home and abroad, and with the goal of uniting alumni strength, integrating resources from alumni in linguistics and related fields, and promoting the deep integration of the university’s disciplinary development with the career advancement of its alumni, we are now officially launching the preparatory work for the “Alumni Association of the Institute of Language Sciences, Shanghai International Studies University” (hereinafter referred to as the “Alumni Association”).
The Alumni Association of the Institute of Language Sciences, Shanghai International Studies University is a joint, non-profit organization voluntarily established by alumni of the Institute. Adhering to the university motto of “Integrity, Vision, Academic Excellence” and upholding the humanistic traditions of SISU, the Alumni Association is dedicated to building a global alumni network, supporting the Institute’s disciplinary development, talent cultivation, and international cooperation, and promoting the social application of research outcomes in linguistics. In the future, the Alumni Association will fully leverage its role as a platform to actively facilitate communication, information sharing, and win-win cooperation among alumni, helping them achieve complementary advantages and collaborative progress in key areas such as technological development, academic exchange, industrial collaboration, and resource integration.
To efficiently advance the preparatory work, we are now conducting a comprehensive registration of alumni information. Information regarding the date of the inaugural meeting will be announced separately.
